The Spierig Brothers is the collective name for Australian twin brothers and film directors, producers and writers Michael and Peter Spierig.

Biography

The Spierig brothers were born on 29 April 1976 in Germany, but grew up in Brisbane. Michael studied graphic design at university, while Peter studied film and television at the same institute. A commercial director had watched a number of their short films and asked them to direct commercials for Australian Union, which they did for the next three years. After that the two agreed on pooling together their life savings and creating their first film, Undead.[1]

Film career

They are known for directing visceral and often violent horror movies such as Daybreakers and Undead.[2] The brothers presented awards at the 2010 Sydney short film festival Tropfest.[3]

The brothers will direct the remake of Captain Blood.[4]

They are also set to direct the upcoming fantasy film The Power of the Dark Crystal.[5]
